MEDIA ADVISORY - Islamic Development Bank Group to Participate in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4)

Jeddah, 27 June 2025 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group will participate in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), taking place from 30 June to 3 July 2025 in Seville, Spain. This high-level global forum, convened by the United Nations and to be hosted by the Government of Spain, will bring together world leaders, multilateral institutions, and development partners to address urgent financing challenges that risk undermining the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The IsDB delegation, led by IsDB Group Chairman H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, will attend this important event to reaffirm the Bank’s institutional commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable development, advancing international cooperation, and contributing to the evolving global financing landscape.

As part of its institutional engagement, the IsDB Group will convene two strategic side events during the Conference. In collaboration with AIIB, UNDP, and the Government of Senegal, the first event will focus on advancing innovative Islamic finance solutions as credible alternatives to conventional debt models. The second, organized jointly with UNDP, will explore adaptive and risk-tolerant financing approaches to support recovery and resilience in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

Both events will contribute to the global dialogue on inclusive financing frameworks that align with the SDGs and address the specific needs of vulnerable countries.

The delegation will also participate in high-level plenaries, multistakeholder roundtables, and bilateral meetings with international partners. Key themes the Bank will engage on include Islamic finance and sukuk, resilience in fragile settings, MDB reform, climate finance, and infrastructure investment.
