Islamic Development Bank Extends US$ 664 Million to Sixteen Member Countries.

IDB has signed (30) financing agreements in favor of (16) member countries at a total cost of US$ 664 million.
The signed agreements are as follows:

1- Turkmenistan:

• US$ 31 million was extended to co-finance purchasing of two Oil Tankers, with a capacity of 7000 ton per tanker, in favor of Turkmenistan. The allocated amount is to contribute in facilitating carrying the Oil and the refined oil products from the Port of Turkomon Bashi to neighboring countries.

• US$ 297,000 as a technical assistance in terms of grant was extended to co-finance feasibility study of Silicon Production from Karakum Sand.

2- Islamic Republic of Afghanistan:

• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration, US$ 800,000 in terms of grant was extended to replenishment of food security stocks.

3- Republic of Mozambique:

• US$ 15.2 million in terms of loan was extended as a contribution to co-finance the Lower Secondary Education Project. It also provided US$ 230,000 as a technical assistance in terms of grant for the same project.
• The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), an affiliate of the IDB group, provided US$ 10.3 million in terms of loan as a contribution in the Niassa Rural Electrification Project.
4- Islamic Republic of Pakistan:

• US$ 138 million was extended as a contribution in the Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project.

5- Republic of Uzbekistan:

• US$ 53 million was extended as a contribution in the Irrigation and Drainage Network in Djizzakh and Sydaria Regions.

6- Republic of Comoros Islands:

• US$ 76,000 in terms of grant was extended to mandate international consultants for the Arab League Conference.

• Through a technical assistance agreement, US$ 300,000 in terms of grant was extended as a contribution in the second phase of developing the Health Sector.

7- Republic of Guinea-Bissau:

• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration, US$ 300,000 in terms of grant was extended as a contribution in the first phase of replenishment of food security stocks.

8- Republic of Guinea:

• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration, US$ 430,000 in terms of grant was extended as a contribution in the first phase of replenishment of food security stocks.

9- Republic of Coast Ivory:

• US$ 30 million (four agreements) was extended as a contribution in the re-construction of the Center-North-West Zone Program (Post- Conflict).

10- Republic of Mali:

• US$ 24.5 million (two financing agreements) was extended as a contribution in the Tien Konou/ Tamani Rural development Support Project.
• US$ 44 million (three financing agreements) was extended as a contribution in the construction of Taoussa Dam Project.

11- Republic of Sera lion:
• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration, US$ 700,000 (A technical assistance agreement) in terms of grant was extended as a contribution in the first phase of replenishment of food security stocks.

12- Republic of Turkey:

• IDB provided US$ 220 million as a contribution in the project of developing the Turkish Railway Network by purchasing (80) Modern Electric Locomotive.

• US$ 40 million was extended to the Turkish Development Bank (TDB). The allocated amount is to support the small and medium projects in Turkey.

13- Republic of Bangladesh:

• US$ 18 million was extended as a contribution in Improving Rural Households Livelihood Project.

14- Burkinafaso:

• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration on food security, US$ 1.4 million in terms of grant was extended to co-finance purchasing seeds and livestock forage as a contribution to achieve food security in the country.

15- Republic of Gambia:

• Within the framework of Jeddah Declaration, US$ 300,000 in terms of grant was extended to co-finance purchasing seeds to improve and increase the agricultural production as a contribution in the replenishment of food security stocks.

16- Republic of Yemen:
• Through a loan agreement, US$ 23 million was extended as a contribution in the Rural Electrification Project.
• Through a loan agreement, US$ 11.5 million was extended as a contribution in the Abyan Agricultural Development Project. IDB also provided US$ 300,000 as a technical assistance in terms of grant for the same project.

The Jeddah Declaration was issued last year at the end of the 33rd Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whereby the bank approved to allocate US$ 1.5 billion to help least developed member countries that were affected by the World Food Crisis.
