The Second International Sharia Economic Festival launched in Surabaya
The Bank of Indonesia (BI) organized The Second International Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in Surabaya (East Java) on 27 October – 1 November 2015. H.E. the Minister of Finance of Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, inaugurated the festival on 29 October 2015. It was one of the biggest Islamic financial and economic events in Indonesia integrating the financial sector and the real sector. The festival was comprised of sharia forum, workshops and sharia product exhibition. The sharia forum and workshops involved government officials, financial institution representatives, scholars, and private sector, while the exhibition involved Bank of Indonesia, Ministry of Finance, Financial Services Authority (OJK), regional governments, SMEs, financial services, sharia financial institutions, non-profit institutions, et cetera.
The IDB Group Indonesia Country Gateway Office (CGO) Resident Representative participated as one of the panel members in the high-level panel discussion themed “Innovation in Sukuk Issuance for Achieving Higher Linkage between Real and Financial Sector” on 28 October 2015, moderated by the Deputy Governor of BI, Erwin Rijanto. The Senior Deputy Governor of BI, Mirza Adityaswara also attended the high-level discussion and delivered his keynote speech. The other panel members were the Vice Minister of Finance, Prof. Mardiasmo, the Deputy Commissioner of OJK of Dr. Mulya E. Siregar, the Ministry of National Development Planning expert staff, Dr. Leonard Tampubolon, the Vice Chairman of Indonesian Awqaf Association, Ir. H. Nadratuzzaman Hosen, and the sharia finance expert, Yuslam Fauzi.
The Government of Indonesia in this event also announced that Indonesia would host the upcoming IDB 41st Annual Meeting in May 2016.
