President of Indonesia Receives IDB Group Chairman
H.E the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, received the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, in Jeddah on 12 September 2015.
During the meeting, the Indonesian President appreciated the constructive cooperation between his country and the IDB Group and wished that IDB Group’s operations would keep expanding in Indonesia. He also emphasized the country’s focus on infrastructure. H.E. the President welcomed the holding of the 41st Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors in Jakarta during 18-19 May 2016 which, he said, would symbolize the good relations between the Republic of Indonesia and the IDB Group.
The IDB Group President gave a brief on the activities of the Group in the Republic of Indonesia as well as the outstanding partnership between the two, which currently extends beyond, through transfer of Indonesian knowledge and expertise in various fields from Indonesia into other IDB member countries. Dr. Ali spoke about the ongoing preparations for the Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors to be held in Jakarta, and extended an official invitation to H.E. President Joko Widodo to grace the opening ceremony and highlight Indonesia’s development efforts. He also emphasized that IDB focused on the Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) for Indonesia to support the country in Infrastructure, Islamic banking, private sector as well as microfinance.
The talking points also covered issues such as the South-South Cooperation, activation of Arab-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, cooperation with Indonesia Center for Afro-Asian Cooperation, and the plan to host the next meeting of Arab Coordination Group in Jakarta.
