ITFC to Build Coffee Training Center in North Sumatera
An ITFC delegation led by its Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nazeem Noordali, met H.E. the Governor of North Sumatera, Tengku Erry Nuradi, in Medan, North Sumatera on 27 October 2017. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the matters regarding the establishment of Coffee Farmers Training Center (CFTC) in North Sumatera as part of the Coffee Export Development Program launched by ITFC in August 2016. It was agreed that the development of CFTC in the Regency of Pakpak Bharat, North Sumatera would commence tentatively in January 2018. The CFTC is aimed at providing capacity building to the coffee farmers in the region so that the productivity and quality of their products can be increased, leading to an enhancement of their livelihood.
Regional Head of Asia & South East Asia ITFC, M. Abdul Aleem, the Provincial Plantation Office Head, Herawati, Chairman of AICE, Irfan Anwar and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, in collaboration with the Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industries Association (AICE) embarked on this innovative financing and trade development program to model a transformation change in the whole Indonesian coffee supply chain. This program was launched on 4 August 2016 in Jakarta.
