President of Tajikistan Inaugurates IsDB-funded Regional Multifunctional Health Center in Khatlon Province
Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, 24 May 2024 – His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the Honorable President of the Republic of Tajikistan has officially inaugurated a modern Regional Multifunctional Health Center in Dangara district of Khatlon Province.
The inauguration ceremony held on 24 May 2024 was attended by Mr. Ibrahim Shoukry, Head of IsDB Regional Hub Almaty. The new multifunctional health center having an area of around 1 ha of land with its one 7-storey building (main building) and two 6-floors of side buildings can accommodate 700 out-patients at a time. This healthcare facility employs 475 medical staff and comprises 153 fully furnished doctor rooms, 5 surgery rooms, a dental center with modern technology, 3 pharmacies and 40 laboratories equipped with modern medical equipment, gym and other necessary amenities to render high-quality healthcare services to population of Dangara and other surrounding districts of Khatlon Province. The modern lab and diagnostic equipment enable the medical facility to undertake 30 types of blood analysis and diagnose different diseases.
The healthcare facility is also provided with ambulances with modern medical equipment to provide emergency medical assistance to patients. In addition, the health center accommodates the Department of Medical and Pediatric Sciences for the research and study of medical aspects and the application of theory in practice while serving as the base for training of medical specialists of the region and the country.
The construction of the Regional Multifunctional Health Center was completed under the US$ 26.87 million LLF/IsDB Project for “Improving Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Services in the Four Districts of Khatlon Region” of the Republic of Tajikistan that aims to support the Government of Tajikistan in achieving SDG3 through (i) Enhancing availability/accessibility of Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health services, (ii) Institutional and Human Resources Capacity Building in the targeted health facilities; (iii) Improving Public Awareness of Health-seeking Behavior; and iv) Establishment of a functional Referral System.
IsDB healthcare projects in Tajikistan are aligned with country’s National Development Strategy and National Health Strategy adopted by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Republic of Tajikistan joined the Islamic Development Bank on 01 June 1997. Since then, the overall IsDB Group approvals have reached around US$916 million for the Central Asian member country.
