Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 10 December 2023 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) organized a four-day country procurement workshop in Turkmenistan for the period December 4 -7, 2023.

staff from various ministries, executing agencies and project management units, as well as local contractors and consultants attended the workshop, which covered key requirements of the IsDB’s Procurement Policy and Procedures that need to be complied with in all IsDB financed activities in the country.  

The workshop, conducted in Russian, provided a knowledge-sharing platform to benefit from lessons learnt and best practices, which will contribute to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of IsDB financed projects in Turkmenistan.

The IsDB team shared tools and case studies on how to conduct due diligence for effective project implementation and development effectiveness. The team also provided the local bidding community with an overview of the Bank’s procurement framework and the implementation mechanism as well as how to experience the essentials to explore and identify IsDB-financed business opportunities in Turkmenistan.

The IsDB continues to support the capacity efforts of Turkmenistan to develop national systems that help assure procurement activities are conducted efficiently, leveraging the tools of IsDB’s New Procurement Framework, and ultimately helping deliver the maximum benefits of Value for Money to the Beneficiaries.
