Namangan, Republic of Uzbekistan, 17 September 2025 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development and poverty reduction at the 3rd International Poverty Reduction Forum. In close partnership with the Government of Uzbekistan, the forum brought together leaders from around the world to identify impactful solutions for accelerating poverty reduction amid global economic challenges.

H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank, delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony. In his remarks, Dr. Al Jasser commended Uzbekistan’s transformative reforms under the visionary leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting, “Uzbekistan’s bold social and economic initiatives stand as a model in the region. Through strategic partnership, we are witnessing real change, where investments translate into opportunities, jobs, and a brighter future for millions.”

The IsDB Group, a long-standing partner, has mobilized more than $4.96 billion in cumulative support prioritizing finance, agriculture, and infrastructure. In 2025 alone, IsDB committed over $523 million to projects with strong social impact, such as investments in healthcare, education, and rural development. The forum provided a vital platform to launch new initiatives, including targeted empowerment of youth and women, and foster knowledge exchange on digital innovation and inclusive growth.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted that, since 2016, Uzbekistan’s consistent reforms have lifted 7.5 million people out of poverty, reducing the national poverty rate to 8.9% in 2024, with a target of 6% by end-2025. “Behind every statistic is a family whose dignity and aspirations have been restored. Our journey is powered by innovation, international collaboration, and an unwavering belief in our people’s potential,” he stated.

President Mirziyoyev welcomed IsDB’s steadfast partnership and continued support to Uzbekistan’s reform agenda and praised Dr. Al Jasser’s determination in strengthening the Bank’s role globally, including the adoption of the new 10-Year Strategic Framework (2026–2035). He underscored the alignment of IsDB’s priorities with Uzbekistan’s national strategy, highlighting critical areas such as job creation, private sector growth, agriculture, and social development.

The forum concluded with a renewed pledge by the IsDB and Uzbekistan to shape resilient societies and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. These efforts embody the IsDB mission to equip communities with the tools to build their own path to prosperity.
