IsDB Provides Funds to IFRC to Support Most Vulnerable Communities in Afghanistan
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 10 August 2022 - In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has provided US$525,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to address the needs of the most vulnerable and conflict-affected communities in Afghanistan.
The allocated funds will help the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) to meet immediate humanitarian needs by providing lifesaving emergency food and nutrition assistance, essential healthcare services including routine immunization for children and child-bearing women, basic life support for the most vulnerable communities, transitional shelter and income-generation trainings for war widows as well as disaster and conflict-affected people in Afghanistan
Afghanistan is reeling from a complex humanitarian crisis resulting from compounding impacts of conflict, drought, loss of livelihoods, food insecurity, global pandemic, and displacement as well as gaps in health services leaving Millions of Afghans in a state of emergency need.
The timely contribution from IsDB will serve to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable communities from five provinces namely Helmand, Urozgan, Kandahar, Kabul, and Herat.
