IsDB President engages international experts on ambitious IsDB Group ten-year plan

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 18 February 2025 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is laying the groundwork for a decade of impactful development, convening its prestigious President’s International Advisory Panel (PIAP) to provide expert guidance on its upcoming Ten-Year Strategic Framework (2026-2035).

Under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, the third PIAP saw in-depth discussions on the ambitious framework, which is currently under development. A key focus was an innovative strategic initiative to create a dedicated concessional financing window designed to empower the Bank’s least-developed member countries.

H.E. Dr. Al Jasser expressed his appreciation for the panel’s invaluable insights, highlighting their importance in refining both the Ten-Year Strategic Framework and the proposed concessional financing mechanism. He directed IsDB teams to incorporate the panel’s recommendations before presenting them to the IsDB Board of Executive Directors and, subsequently, to the Board of Governors during the Group’s Annual Meetings in Algiers this May.

Established in November 2024, the PIAP serves as a strategic body advising the IsDB President on the Group’s long-term planning. The panel comprises internationally recognized experts in development, economics, and finance, acting in their individual capacities:

  • Prof. Carlos Lopes

  • Dr. Frannie Léautier

  • Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin

  • Dr. Majid Al Moneef

  • Prof. Mohd Azmi Omar.
