IsDB President and Algerian Minister of Finance discuss strengthening strategic partnership

Algiers, Algeria – 6 April 2025 – In a high-level engagement underscoring the strong partnership between Algeria and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, H.E. Mr. Abdelkrim Bouzred, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the IsDB Board of Governors, held talks with H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the IsDB Group.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Algiers, focused on expanding avenues of cooperation between the IsDB Group and Algeria, with particular emphasis on a new partnership framework set to be officially announced during the Bank’s Annual Meetings, scheduled to take place in Algiers this May. The framework aims to support sectors that drive competitiveness, economic diversification, and private sector development, while enhancing partnerships for human capital development and regional cooperation.

Discussions also addressed the resumption of cooperation in financing strategic projects to help advance sustainable development goals and bolster Algeria’s national infrastructure.

In this context, both sides underscored the importance of expanding railway infrastructure as a key driver of sustainable economic growth, improved quality of life, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced regional integration.

Dr. Al Jasser reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting such transformative projects, drawing on the Bank’s successful experience with similar initiatives across other member countries.

He also commended the Algerian government for its ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the IsDB Group and extended his gratitude for hosting the upcoming IsDB Group Annual Meetings, as well as for Algeria’s continued support in ensuring their success.
