Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 20 October 2026 - H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, met with H.E. Dato’ Sri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), to further strengthen the longstanding strategic partnership between the two institutions and explore opportunities to expand cooperation in Islamic finance and sustainable economic development.

The meeting highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration in Islamic finance, financial inclusion, regulatory cooperation, and capacity building. Discussions focused on leveraging Malaysia’s extensive expertise and proven financial models to advance inclusive financial solutions and support sustainable development across IsDB member countries.

Particular emphasis was placed on the role of Islamic finance in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), facilitating access to financing, and creating employment opportunities. The two sides explored how Malaysia’s experience and financial expertise could contribute to strengthening businesses, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering sustainable economic growth across IsDB member countries.

Dr. Al Jasser expressed appreciation for Bank Negara Malaysia’s continued support and participation in IsDB Sukuk issuances, recognizing the importance of this cooperation in strengthening financial ties between the two institutions.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the IsDB Group and Bank Negara Malaysia to advancing innovative and inclusive financial solutions that mobilize capital, support businesses, and expand employment opportunities, while contributing to sustainable economic development across IsDB member countries.
