IRTI, IDB Indonesia, OJK Organize a Back-to-back Islamic Finance Seminar and Leadership Workshop
Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), IDB Group Country Gateway Office (CGO) Indonesia and Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) co-hosted an Islamic Finance Seminar entitled “Transforming Indonesia into a Global Islamic Finance Hub” in Jakarta on Monday, 16 January 2017.
The seminar aimed at discussing the opportunities and challenges to transform Indonesia into a Global Islamic Finance Hub, covering issues such as (i) the latest update of Islamic Finance Roadmap for Indonesia, (ii) Microfinance & Financial Inclusion and Sukuk as an Islamic Finance Product for Development financing.
H.E. Dr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, the Minister of National Development Planning, Government of Indonesia, attended and provided the keynote speech for the event. Mr. Ibrahim Shoukry, Resident Representative, IDB Group Indonesia, Dr. Osman Ahmed, Lead Economist, IRTI and Mr. Edy Setiadi, Non - Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) Supervision, Indonesia Financial Services Authority, also attended this joint event.
The seminar involved 15 reputable speakers and moderators and approximately 130 high-level participants from the central bank, government, private sector and academia.
Following the Islamic Finance Seminar, Islamic Research & Training Institute (IRTI) and IDB Group CGO Indonesia organized the 2017 Global Islamic Leadership Program in Jakarta, during 17-20 January 2017.
The program aimed to provide insight into what qualities make a leader effective from an Islamic perspective, to provide greater understanding of participants’ own authentic and unique leadership styles including insights into vision, integrity, servant leadership and spiritual intelligence,.
The Program aimed also to help participants understand influencing strategies, and to build the golden thread, connecting classical Islamic wisdoms to contemporary challenges, allowing participants to apply Islamic leadership principles to benefit their communities and the world.
Approximately 30 participants representing government ministries, central bank and academia attended the 4-day training.
Mr. Nabeel Azami of Murabbi Consulting, facilitated the training from day one, while reputable national speakers including Dr. Adiwarman Karim, a member of National Shariah Economic Council, and Dr. Syafii Antonio, a well-known scholar in Islamic Finance, provided presentations on faith-based leadership on the last day.
