Dr. Alwi Shihab, the President of Indonesia's Special Envoy for Middle East and OIC Countries visited the IDB's headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 7 February 2017 and met with His Excellency Dr. Bandar Hajjar, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group to discuss opportunities to provide low-cost housing in Indonesia, and IDBG's role in facilitating joint cooperation between Indonesia and some member states.

Dr. Shihab expressed the desire to show Indonesia's development experience during the next annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank, which will be held in Jeddah from 14 to 18 May 2017 and the definition of the role of Indonesia in achieving the Bank's program of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the member states.
