IsDB Group Chairman's Visit to Bahrain: Expanding Cooperation Towards National Development Priorities
Manama, Bahrain, 23 February 2024 – H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, concluded a three-day visit to Bahrain on Friday, February 20 to 23, aiming to reinforce the partnership between Bahrain and IsDB Group. He held several bilateral meetings with senior government officials to foster collaboration across multiple sectors.
Dr. Al Jasser met with His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, at Riffa Palace. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation and the IsDB Group's support for Bahrain's developmental projects, particularly in infrastructure.
Additionally, Dr. Al Jasser held discussions with His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Finance and National Economy (and IsDB Governor), exploring potential collaborative ventures. Dr. Al Jasser praised Bahrain's strategic planning in financing priority projects through its ten-year plans.
A meeting with the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, centered on the IsDB Group's support for Bahrain's renewable energy initiatives, in line with the Kingdom's 2030 Economic Vision.
Further talks with Mr. Khaled Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, emphasized the importance of Sukuk and liquidity management, identifying developmental opportunities in these financial sectors.
During the visit, Dr. Al Jasser conducted site visits, including an inspection of the water transportation and storage development project in Shaikh Issa City, a critical initiative funded by the Bank to address Bahrain's increasing water demands. Dr. Al Jasser also toured the "Pearling Path" project, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting the commitment to supporting Bahrain's diverse development sectors and stressing its significance for cultural and tourism development, supported financially by the Bank.
