Uzbek Ambassador Confers on Preparations for Upcoming IsDB Group Annual Meetings
A meeting between Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President, Dr. Bandar Hajjar, and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ulugbek Maksudov, has focused on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Tashkent, the IsDB funded projects in Uzbekistan such as the railway project connecting the country to Pakistan via Afghanistan, as well as the Bank’s support for Imam Bukhari International Center as a scientific and cultural pillar.
Commending the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan for its continued support for the IsDB Group, Dr. Hajjar underlined the Bank’s commitment to elevate relations with the Central Asian Member Country as well as exploring all the means which support long term partnership between the two sides.
The meeting also reviewed the Government of Uzbekistan’s request for IsDB support to the proposed regional railway project connecting Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan as Dr. Hajjar expressed the Bank’s support for this regional project stating that strengthening regional integration and multilateral relations amongst Member Countries is on top of IsDB’s objectives.
The Ambassador, meanwhile, underscored his country’s intensive efforts ensure the utmost optimal level of organization for the upcoming Annual Meetings reflecting the progressive ties between Uzbekistan and IsDB while praising the ongoing relations on various levels.
The IsDB Group funding approvals for Uzbekistan’s sustainable socio-economic development, to date, stand at US$ 2,397.5 million covering various projects in different sectors including agriculture and rural development, transportation, power, healthcare and education.
