Hon. President of Tajikistan Officially Inaugurates IsDB-funded School in Dushanbe
Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, 31 August 2023 – His Excellency President Emomali Rahmon, the Honorable President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as The Hon. Chairman of the Supreme National Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan and Mayor of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustam Emomali have officially inaugurated a modern secondary school in №53 of Ismoili Somoni district in the capital city of Dushanbe.
The new school with its five 4-storey buildings will accommodate 2,400 students in two shifts. The school comprises 50 fully furnished classrooms to study math, physics, chemistry, biology, foreign languages, arts, IT, music, etc. as well as a meeting hall, an electronic library, a choreography and drama studio, a sports hall, separate rooms for school management and teachers, fully equipped medical rooms for dentist and physiologist, canteen and other auxiliary infrastructure necessary for effective education process.
The construction of the school was completed under the US$ 61.5 million IsDB/GPE Project for Support to Implementation of the National Education Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan (Phase I) that aims to construct 68 schools and 5 education administrative buildings to enhance access to student friendly education environment and improve learning conditions in 18 districts of Khatlon region and Dushanbe city.
The project specifically envisions enhancing access to quality education facilities in the selected districts, improving the efficiency of the competency-based education, supporting reform in assessment practices and stock-taking of various activities for effective implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE), and supporting education sector policy, planning and evidence-based resource allocation through strengthening of the EMIS and its piloting in the project area.
In accordance with Pillar 2 - “Inclusive Human Capital Development” - of its Realigned Strategy, the IsDB attaches high importance to the human capital development in its member countries, including Tajikistan.
IsDB education projects in Tajikistan are aligned with country’s National Development Strategy and National Strategy for Education Development adopted by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Republic of Tajikistan joined the Islamic Development Bank on 27 November 1996. Since then, the overall IsDB Group approvals have reached around US$717 million for the Central Asian member country.
