Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, 13 March 2023 - The Project Procurement and Financial Management and Integrity and Ethics Department jointly delivered a 5-day Workshop in Tajikistan during 13-17 March 2023.  

The workshop was participated by the staff of line Ministries, relevant executing agencies and project management units (EAs/PMUs), and local contractors/consultants community. It covered key requirements contained in the IsDB’s respective Policy/Guidelines for Procurement, Anti-Corruption, and Project Financial Management that needs to be complied with in all IsDB-financed activities.  

The workshop provided a knowledge-sharing platform to benefit from lessons learned and best practices, which shall contribute to the improvement of effectiveness and efficiency in projects financed by IsDB in Tajikistan.

Over 75 participants (41 from local community bidding and 35 from EA/PMUs) actively attended the workshop and learned best practices in procurement, dispute resolution, contract and financial management, and compliance with Bank’s Integrity Policy.

Staff from IED and PPFM shared tools and case studies on conducting due diligence for effective project implementation and development effectiveness. The workshop also provided the local bidding community with an overview of the Bank’s procurement framework and implementation mechanism and provided the essentials of exploring and identifying IsDB-financed business opportunities in the Republic of Tajikistan.

The workshop also aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of IsDB’s Integrity Policy and their skills in preventing and detecting possible fraud and corruption in IsDB projects in Tajikistan.

IsDB continues to support capacity efforts of Tajikistan to develop national systems that help assure procurement activities are conducted in an efficient manner, leveraging the tools of IsDB’s New Procurement Framework, and ultimately helping deliver the maximum benefits of Value For Money to the Beneficiary.
