Turkish Cypriot President Invites Businessmen and Investors
09.04.2012, Jeddah, KSA - President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, HE Mr. Dervish Eroglu, has welcomed the initiative by the Islamic Development Bank Group to organize the “Northern Cyprus Investment Forum” in the city of Girne, Northern Cyprus, on 12 April 2012.
Visiting IDB Group headquarters, President Dervish Eroglu underlined the significant development assistance extended by the IDB to his country in the fields of education and enhancing the investment environment in Northern Cyprus. He stated that his country has been posting high growth figures in recent years. All requirements for the successful conduct of the Investors Forum have been completed which he will inaugurate in the presence of the IDB Group President and HE Professor Ekmeleddin
Ihsanoglu, Secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, and other dignitaries.
The Islamic Development Bank’s developmental assistance to the Muslim community in Turkish Northern Cyprus has reached more than US$ 3 million comprising nine development projects covering education, Islamic teachings and investment support. The Bank has also granted eight scholarships to Northern Cypriot Muslim students in line with its Scholarship Program in support of minority Muslim communities in non-member countries since 1981.
