The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Receives IsDB President for Strategic Discussions to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
Astana, Kazakhstan – September 5, 2024 – During his official visit to Kazakhstan, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser met with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in Astana. The meeting served as an opportunity to further solidify the long-standing partnership between IsDB and Kazakhstan, with discussions focusing on key areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure development, economic resilience, and sustainable growth.
The leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on advancing several high-priority initiatives, particularly those related to Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and water resource management. The IsDB’s ongoing commitment to these projects was emphasized, particularly in the context of the bank’s support for the Climate-Resilient Water Resources Development Program, which aims to enhance water management across nine regions, including Astana and support in the construction of regional road projects as part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to become the largest transit and logistics hub in Central Asia.
The leaders underscored the strategic importance of infrastructure in driving Kazakhstan’s long-term development. The discussions also explored new avenues for collaboration between the country and the bank in different areas.
H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his deep appreciation for the Islamic Development Bank’s continued support and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the IsDB.
