Sudanese Finance Minister Highlights IDB Group-Sudan Ties
In an interview on the occasion of the 37th Annual Meeting of the IDB, Mr. Ali Mahmoud Mohammed Abderrasoul, the Finance and National Economy Minister of Sudan, lauded the leading role the Islamic Development Bank is playing as an institution based in Islamic banking principles and advancing the development agenda of its member countries by contributing to development projects and creating windows of opportunities for the private sector. He pointed out that the 37th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB comes at a time when the Islamic world is looking for substantial funding to achieve sustainable development.
The Minister commended the important and growing role played by the Islamic Corporation for Private Sector Development (ICD), the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), the three main affiliate institutions within the IDB Group.
The Sudanese Finance and National Economy Minister reiterated that there are many project financing programs from the IDB to the Government of Sudan where “we have signed agreements for financing development projects such as the rehabilitation of Halfa project and the sustainable villages in West Darfur”.
