Jeddah, 24 November 2022 - The main objective of the meeting was to revive the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries (FOCIC) after remaining defunct for 10 years. The Special General Assembly Meeting of the FOCIC was held at Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) HQ in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, 24^th November 2022, which was attended by delegates and Members of FOCIC from 25 member countries and Presidents of Federations of Arab and African countries, Chairman of Saudi Contracting Organization and representation of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Meeting was organized by the Islamic Development in partnership with FOCIC. The meeting was opened by the H. E. The Vice President (Finance), IsDB; and the Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority; Chairman of Sudanese Contractors Association; President of the African Federation for Contractors Association; President of the Iraqi Contractors Federation; President of the Egyptian Federation for Contractors; and the Secretary General of the FOCIC.

The Achievements Report of the FOCIC Revival Working Group was presented in the meeting. The Meeting deliberated on and approved the new Statutes of the Federation; agree on new Headquarter of the Federation to be based in Riyad, KSA. The FOCIC member elected Saudi Contracting Organization as the President, three Vice President and the FOCIC Board Members for a term of 3 years. The meeting agreed to a strategic direction of the Federation for the next 3 years.

Acting Manager Project Procurement and Financial Management, IsDB and Head of Risk Management of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD)- an Entity of the IsDB Group- made a presentation on the business opportunities and prospects for the private sector. ICD highlighted the role it is playing for the promotion of the contracting industry in the IsDB Member Countries.  In his closing remarks, the Manager, Project Procurement and Financial Management, IsDB assured the newly elected President and FOCIC Board Members continued  support of IsDB. New management of the Federation to work for growth of the contracting industry in IsDB Member Countries.
