Media Advisory - Islamic Development Bank President to Visit Brunei Darussalam & Indonesia for Strategic Engagements

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 27 August 2024 — Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, will undertake an official working visit to Southeast Asia, which will take him to Brunei Darussalam and The Republic of Indonesia from 28-31 August2024.  

The visit aims to strengthen strategic partnerships, enhance bilateral cooperation, and underscore IsDB’s commitment to sustainable development across the region. 

During the first phase of his visit, H.E. Dr. Al Jasser will hold an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, where strategic discussions on bilateral relations will take place. He will also engage in high-level talks with key government officials, including the Hon. Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed to further cement cooperation between the IsDB and Brunei Darussalam. 

Once he arrives in Indonesia for the second phase of the visit, H.E. Dr. Al-Jasser will inaugurate two hospitals in Jakarta, developed with IsDB financing. These inaugurations will be attended by His Excellency Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, along with senior Indonesian officials. During the visit, H.E. Dr. Al Jasser will hold bilateral talks with several Indonesian ministers, including the Minister of Finance (IsDB Governor), Her Excellency Sri Mulyani Indrawati and the MMinister of Health, H.E. Budi Gunadi Sadikin  The meetings aim to deepen cooperation on infrastructure development, health, and other key strategic areas.
