Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, 26 February 2023 - Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Chairman, HE Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, today made a landmark visit to the Karabakh region in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The visit aimed to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan and reaffirm IsDB's commitment to supporting the country's socio-economic development based on the Government’s priorities stated in its Strategy 2023

HE Dr. Al Jasser was accompanied by Mr. Aydin Kerimov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district and Mr. Sahib Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan.

The visit also included a tour of Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. The delegates  commended the ongoing efforts by the Republic of Azerbaijan to rebuild and develop the area.During the tour, the delegation was briefed on the ongoing reconstruction projects

Dr. Al Jasser reaffirmed IsDB's commitment to supporting the country's economic development, including financing infrastructure projects and providing technical assistance.

The visit by the IsDB President marks a significant milestone in the Bank's relationship with Azerbaijan and demonstrates its continued commitment to supporting the country's development agenda. In addition, the visit is expected to pave the way for more future cooperation and collaboration between IsDB Group and the Government of Azerbaijan, particularly in  reconstruction of Karabakh, connectivity, digital transformation and renewable energy.
