IsDB President Holds Strategic Meetings During 2024 IMF and World Bank Meetings to Foster Cooperation

Washington, USA, 24 October 2024 – In a series of high-impact meetings on the sidelines of the 2024 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), reinforced strategic partnerships with IsDB Governors, focusing on driving economic growth and collaboration across member countries.

Dr. Al Jasser met with IsDB Governors from Chad, Tunisia, Libya, and Turkmenistan, setting the stage for enhanced development cooperation. The discussions centered around tailored financial solutions, strategic development priorities, and leveraging IsDB’s resources to accelerate sustainable economic growth.

In his meeting with Chad’s Minister of Finance, Budget, Economy, and Planning (IsDB Governor), H.E. Mr. Tahir Hamid Nguilin, the focus was on catalyzing Chad’s economic progress through strengthened cooperation. Dr. Al Jasser also held discussions with H.E. Mr. Samir Abdelhafidh, Minister of Economy and Planning (IsDB Governor for Tunisia), to explore innovative financing solutions to support Tunisia’s ambitious development agenda.

Dr. Al Jasser exchanged views with H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Mabrouk Abdullah Al-Mabrouk, Minister of Finance of Libya’s Government of National Unity (IsDB Governor), emphasizing opportunities for deepened collaboration in addressing Libya’s recovery needs.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Jasser signed a major agreement with H.E. Mr. Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan (IsDB Governor), to finance healthcare facilities specializing in cancer treatment. The two sides, in their bilateral discussions, further explored the ongoing deep-rooted cooperation and agreed to continue joint efforts in the framework of IsDB Member Country Partnership Strategy document (MCPS 2024-2027).
