IsDB President Dr. Al Jasser to Attend the Rome International Conference on Development and Migration and the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 19th July 2023 - The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is pleased to announce that its President, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, has been invited by the Italian Prime Minister, Georgia Meloni, to participate in The Rome International Conference on Development and Migration, taking place on 23rd July 2023. During this period, Dr. Al Jasser will also be attending the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment, scheduled for 24th to 26th July 2023.

The Rome International Conference on Development and Migration will serve as a platform for fostering cooperation and exploring innovative strategies to address the challenges related to development and migration. Dr. Al Jasser will actively engage in high-level discussions with world leaders, heads of multilateral institutions, and other key stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to these pressing global issues. As part of IsDB's commitment to its Realigned Strategy (2023-2025), encompassing sustainable development, poverty alleviation, climate change, and inclusive economic growth, Dr. Al Jasser's participation in this conference underscores the bank's dedication to promoting positive change in member countries and beyond.

Following The Rome International Conference, Dr. Al Jasser will participate in the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment. The IsDB takes pride in its flagship initiatives, such as the USD 10.54 billion Food Security Response Program (FSRP), actively supporting agricultural projects, rural development, and agribusiness initiatives. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, which aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. Dr. Al Jasser will emphasize the IsDB's continuous commitment to advancing food security and sustainable agriculture practices during the summit, fostering partnerships to achieve shared goals.

Apart from participating in the conferences, Dr. Al Jasser will also hold bilateral talks with Heads of the United Nations, development partners, and senior government officials.
