IsDB President and Senegal’s Prime Minister Discuss Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Dakar, Senegal, 24 January 2023 – Now in the capital city of Dakar, Senegal, to attend the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, has met with the country’s Prime Minister H.E. Amadou Ba.
During the bilateral meeting, the two sides reviewed the development cooperation between IsDB group and the Republic of Senegal and focused on ways to further promote inclusive and sustainable development.
Prime Minster Amadou Ba, in the meeting, lauded IsDB Group’s ongoing fruitful cooperation with Senegal and voiced hope that the collaboration would expand even further in the near future.
Reaffirming IsDB Group’s full commitment and continued support for all member countries including Senegal, President Al Jasser stated that partnership with the Senegalese government is vital in addressing development challenges and building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
During his visit to Dakar, the IsDB president is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Senegal on the new IsDB-Senegal Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) for 2023- 2027. IsDB’s MCPS for Senegal outlines and facilitates the priority areas for taking the development cooperation between the to sides to higher levels in line with the country’s national development strategy, the Plan for an Emerging Senegal, and the priority action plan.
Senegal joined IsDB on 20 November 1976. To date, IsDB Group has approved US$4.77 billion of development financing for Senegal’s different sectors and the Bank Group’s active portfolio in the country stands at US$ 3.26 billion.
