IsDB President and OIC SG Discuss Issues of Mutual Interest
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 5 September 2022 – Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser and OIC Secretary General H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha discussed at IsDB Headquarters in Jeddah several important topics including climate change, food security, landlocked countries, and poverty alleviation.
Dr. Al Jasser praised the good relations between the two institutions noting that both IsDB and OIC are working together to serve the best interest of the Ummah in various fields.
The OIC Secretary General congratulated the IsDB for the great accomplishments since inceptions and the role it is playing to support the development of member countries
The meeting discussed the current international crisis between Russia and Ukraine and its implications on member countries, the Bank’s agricultural efforts in numerous African and Asian countries, promoting management and governance in member countries, and the need to strengthen the export sector, especially in LDCs. As opposed to relying on food imports, IsDB member countries are capable of producing, achieving food security, and exporting.
The two institutions agreed to hold periodic coordination meetings to share information and unify their efforts in handling different issues of mutual concern.
