Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 17 September 2024 – A High-Level Delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) will attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), being organized on the theme, "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations" in New York from 19-27 September 2024.  During the UNGA sessions, the IsDB's delegation will participate in high-level global discussions and meetings, including the Summit of the Future.

The IsDB Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Zamir Iqbal, will represent the IsDB President and Group Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, at the UN Secretary General's meeting with the Heads of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) to align efforts between the UN and MDBs to accelerate the progress of the 2030 Agenda.

The IsDB Group delegation, headed by Dr. Issa Faye, Director General, Global Practice and Partnerships will endeavor to enhance the global positioning and visibility of the Islamic Development Bank.  The Delegation will also be engaging in bilateral discussions with strategic development partners in supporting IsDB’s efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Member Countries and Muslim communities in non-Member Countries.

Furthermore, the Bank is co-organizing the Second Edition of the 2024 Global Advocacy Dialogue Series, jointly launched earlier this year with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).  The Dialogue seeks to explore the latest development and partnerships trends focusing on the innovative and evolving nature of South-South and triangular cooperation.
