IsDB Board of Governors Renews Confidence in Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser with New Five-Year Mandate

Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, 18 June 2026 –The Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), representing the Bank’s 57 member countries, today reelected H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser as President of the IsDB and Chairman of the IsDB Group for a new five-year term.

The decision was announced during the plenary of the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Baku.

The re-election reflects the Board’s confidence in Dr. Al Jasser’s leadership and in the progress the IsDB Group has achieved in recent years. Since taking office in 2021, he has driven a broad reform agenda to strengthen the Group’s delivery, financial standing, and development impact across member countries.

Under his leadership, annual IsDB Group approvals more than doubled – from US$6.8 billion in 2020 to nearly US$16 billion in 2025 – while annual disbursements rose from US$7.1 billion to US$11 billion.

His tenure has also delivered the IsDB Group Ten-Year Strategic Framework (2026- 2035), the IsDB Way cultural model, and the IsDB Concessional Fund, all while preserving the Group’s AAA credit rating.

Commenting on his re-election, Dr. Al Jasser thanked the Board of Governors for their continued trust.

“This renewed confidence is both an honor and a responsibility,” he said. “It strengthens our determination to continue building an IsDB Group that is agile in response, excellent in delivery, and unwavering in its commitment to addressing the evolving development needs of our member countries and communities beyond them.
