IsDB and Kyrgyz Republic to Promote Development Relations

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 1 March 2022 – Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, has met in his office at IsDB headquarters in Jeddah with H.E. Mr. Arzybek Kozhoshev First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting, which took place on 1st March, Dr.  Al Jasser praised the relations between the IsDB and the Kyrgyz Republic noting that the Bank is financing many projects in the country where some of them are successfully completed while some others are still in the process.

He underlined the importance of the timely completion of the ongoing development projects to better serve the stakeholders and pave the way for financing the list of the new projects presented to the Bank.

The IsDB President also emphasized the importance of good preparation for the meeting of the Arab Coordination Group including bringing well-thought-out and well-prepared projects for consideration.

To ensure effective performance, Dr. Al Jasser suggested to Mr. Kozhoshev the establishment of a Project Management Office (PMO) to follow up on the projects and ensure that they are implemented within the specified time frame.

Mr. Kozhoshev thanked the Bank for its partnership and excellent cooperation with his country stating that the Bank is currently financing 21 projects with high development importance. He also praised the Bank’s role in helping Kyrgyzstan to fight the pandemic, including the role played by the 5 Mobile Medical Units (MMU) which was provided by King Abdullah Program for Charity Work.  He also expressed his keenness to establish the PMO to facilitate and expedite IsDB projects.

Mr. Kozhoshev, stated that the Government has launched a five-year program for the development of the country for which he called on IsDB to play a major role in implementing the program, especially in the fields of energy, green economy, and other development sectors.
