Doha, Qatar, 27 September 2026 – H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, met with Ms. Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), ahead of the 2026 AIIB Annual Meeting in Doha.

It was the first dedicated bilateral engagement between the two leaders since Ms. Zou assumed the AIIB presidency in January 2026.

The two leaders reviewed progress in implementing the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding and its Joint Action Plan and explored ways to deepen cooperation, particularly in co-financing projects in common member countries, regional connectivity and Islamic finance.

They also reviewed ongoing joint efforts, including the co-financed Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Project in Indonesia, and discussed strengthening coordination on co-financed operations and future opportunities.

The discussions also highlighted joint initiatives in Islamic finance, including Sukuk, cross-border connectivity in Central Asia, and knowledge sharing to support sustainable infrastructure financing.

The meeting reaffirmed the two institutions’ shared commitment to building a more systematic partnership and supporting sustainable development across their common member countries.
