Inauguration Ceremony of the Donka Hospital in Conakry

The Donka Hospital in Conakry has officially received a various healthcare equipment and rehabilitation through IsDB contribution of € 25.7 million. The launching ceremony saw the attendance of H.E. Col. Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea and a team from IsDB Regional Hub in Dakar led by the Director, Musa Sillah.

The 1959 Donka hospital is another example of the IsDB's partnership with the Government of Guinea over the past 50 years in various sectors including health.  

The modernization of Donka hospital will substantially improve the health status of the population of Guinea through i) access to specialized services and quality health care ii) strengthening the training and research capacities of students and medical personnel and iii) strengthening the country's preparedness and response capacity to the Ebola Virus disease and other epidemic diseases.

As a result of the IsDB support, the hospital will now have 31 equipped departments, including 15 operating rooms, an autopsy room, a high-performance medical imaging center, 8 automated laboratory units, 4 reanimation units, and a distribution network of five medical gases with their central.

Additionally, the management of the Donka Hospital has been entrusted to a Canadian Company named "Netsen Group” specialized in Hospital Management, which will contribute to strengthening the sustainability of the project including the transfer of competencies and knowledge.

The Canadian Group will carry out the management of Donka Hospital in collaboration with the International Health Unit of the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Montreal.

IsDB previously supported Guinea with US$ 20 million in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and is planning projects on transportation and energy in the near future.
