IDB president asks media to help raise awareness about Adahi project and advise pilgrims to avoid project facilities at peak times
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 7 September 2016 – The President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, has asked media delegations covering the 2016 Hajj season to help raise awareness among pilgrims about the Saudi Project for Utilization of Hajj Meat (Adahi) and to advise them to avoid the Adahi facilities at peak times.
Dr. Ali made the remarks today during an annual reception for the local, regional and international media delegations invited by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture and Information to cover the events in Hajj 2016. The reception was held at IDB headquarters.
Since 1983, IDB has been assigned by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the sole operator of Adahi, an environment-friendly project that secures the cleanliness of the holy places. Adahi facilitates the performance of Hajj rituals for pilgrims by providing hygienically healthy livestock in accordance with all Shari’a requirements.
By Royal Decree, IDB also has the sole exclusive right to sell all types of Adahi coupons. These coupons can be purchased by individuals or Hajj missions at www.adahi.org (accessible from all over the world) or through registered and reliable sellers at numerous points of sale in the holy places. A special Adahi team follows up the performance of the rituals for every purchased coupon within the expected Shari’a compatible time and the coupon owner is informed about the issue via SMS or email.
“The follow up reports on the performance of the rituals are available online around the clock,” Dr. Ali said. “The Adahi coupons may also be purchased at all post offices, all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or in Makkah through all the branches of the Al Rajhi Bank, Mobily offices, the Safe Services Systems Company, or via the Hadiyyat el Haaj wal Mutamir Company.”
Dr. Ali underlined that during its 34 years of service history, Adahi has facilitated the performance of Hajj rites for pilgrims by saving them the burden of finding livestock that meets all Shari’a and health standards. Prior to entering the facilities, animals are screened by 670 veterinarians and 700 Sahri’a scholars to ensure full compliance of the processes with the required standards.
Each coupon Price for this year 1437 H (2016) will be offered at SR 460, US$ 122 or Euro 110, according to the exchange rate of today.
Adahi distributes the utilized Hajj meat among the needy in Holy Mosque and adjacent areas as well as in other parts in the Kingdom through charity organizations. Surplus meat is distributed among needy people in 23 countries around the world.
Dr. Ali expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Crown Prince and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their valuable support for IDB and the Adahi Project in facilitating the performance of the sacred Hajj rituals.
