IDB Approves New Finances for More Than US$ 775 Million

Dr. Ahamd Mohamed Ali, IDB President, stated that the Board, which concluded its 244th session at IDB headquarters in Jeddah yesterday, reviewed a Progress Report on the implementation of the IDB 1440H (2020G)Vision.

" The Board approved US$ 50 million as a two- year budget for the IDB Pilot Programme on Roll-Back Malaria which would be implemented in a selected number of member countries to enable IDB to play pioneering role among international organizations engaged in roll-back of malaria programme." He said.

"The Board also approved US$ 600,000 for feasibility study for Achieving Academic Excellence in Science and Technology for Development Programme . The Bank will cooperate with member countries, international organizations and institutions in member countries, specializing in higher education and scientific research, for achieving the goals of this Programme." He concluded.

 US$ 10.7 million loan financing for Construction of the Bandiagara-Bankass-Koro-Burkina Faso Road - - ID 7.0 million (approx. equiv. to Euro 8.050 million) - Mali.
 US$ 8.3 million financing for Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project - ( loan US$ 8 + T.A. grant US$ 300,000) million - Sierra Leone.
 US$ 10 million loan financing for Support to the preparation of Infrastructure Projects - Gabon.
 US$ 10.48 million loan financing for Construction of Yeguresso-Diebougou Road Project - Burkina Faso.
 US$ 75 million Istisna'a financing for Construction of South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) Project - Malaysia.
 US$ 70 million leasing financing for Tehran Power Transmission and Distribution Project - Iran.
 US$ 12 million loan financing for 110 KV Aigul Tash to Samat Transmission Line and Substation Project - Kyrgyz.
 US$ 2.3 million loan financing for Utilization of savings for the construction of Government Primary Schools Project (Phase-II) - Bangladesh.
 US$ 3 million loan supplementary financing for the ongoing Operation of Power Rehabilitation Project - Tajikistan.

 US$ 15 million leasing financing for Saudi German Hospital Project - Egypt.
 US$ 10 million loan financing for The Social Fund for Development (Third Phase) –Yemen.
 US$ 2 million loan financing for Education Project-II (Additional Financing) - Djibouti
 US$ 14.80 million loan financing for Construction of Atar–Tidjikja Road Project –Mauritania.
 US$ 3.45 million loan financing for Rehabilitation of Small and Medium Scale Irrigated Perimeters in Brakna (Additional Financing) - Mauritania

GRANTS AND SPECIAL ASSISTANCE PROJECTS FROM WAQF FUND:

 US$ US$ 336,000 for Expansion of Teachers Training Institute in Madina Town, Greater Accra, Ghana.
 US$ 220,000 for Completion of Mindanao Specialist Hospital, Islamic City of Marawi, the Philippines.
 US$ 165,000 for Construction of Sir Syed Public School, Rampur Chandair Town, Ballia District, U.P. State, India.
 US$ 295,000 for Construction of Al-Farqouq Secondary Technical School in Garissa, Kenya.
 US$ 250,000 for Expansion of Arafat Hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia.

APPROVALS BY THE PRESIDENT
The following are approvals of trade operations and project financing made by the President of the Bank between the previous and present sessions of the Board.

Import Trade Financing Operations (ITFO):

Financing 9 Trade Operations totaling US$ 449 in favor of a number of member countries for exporting oil products, manufacturing goods, agricultural inputs, equipments and spare parts.
