IDB 1440H Vision Commission Adopts Document

The Deputy Minister of finance II of Malaysia, Datuk Dr Awang Adik Hussein, inaugurated the 3rd Meeting of the Vision Commission in the presence of H.E. Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President of the IDB Group.
The commission discussed the final draft and adopted the document. The Vision document contains broad outline of the expectations of the Ummah from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) until the year 1440H and the challenges facing the Member countries of the Bank.
The document focused on the major issues that the IUDB Group would give priority to, including education, poverty alleviation, health, promotion of the Islamic financial industry, development of women, and improving the image of Islam in the world, etc.
The Commission was established during the 30th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors that was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, during June 2005 with the objective of drafting a new vision for the Bank and assisting it to promote its role within the Group of international institutions and associates to deal with the challenges facing the member countries.
The Commission listened to the various remarks on the occasion and commended the efforts exerted by the management and the staff to crystallize the strategy in its final form. The Executive Directors of the IDB who attended the deliberations also praised the Commissions work in preparing this strategic document on behalf of the Bank for the next 15 years and beyond.
