General Assembly of Federations of Consultants from Islamic Countries Convenes on Margins of IsDB Group Annual Meeting
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 27 April 20204 – On the sidelines of the ongoing 2024 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Riyadh, the Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries (FCIC) convened their General Assembly (GA) on Sunday 28th April 2024.
FCIC plays a critical role in promoting the consulting industry and building professional capacity of Engineering firms from Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) member countries.
The members of the Federations are business partners of IsDB Group that help the Bank in successfully implementing projects financed by the Bank and building local industries.
The FCIC held their General Assembly to discuss implementation of their three-year strategies 2022-2024. The GA also elaborated on the progress made in implementation of the Strategy and challenges faced.
Activities related to capitalizing on business opportunities and efforts made for enhancing their working capacity.
The meeting also touched upon the Statement of Account, Activity Report for 2023 including increasing memberships, cooperation and partnership program, youth leadership development program, enhancing social media platform and capacity development activities and organizing annual Engineers Forums.
The future priority that helps the FCIC in developing next three-year Strategy, was also brought up at the discussions.
Participants at the FCIC thanked IsDB for their continuous support in strengthening critical consulting industry for economic development in member countries.
Furthermore, a meeting was held between the IsDB Vice President Operations, Dr. Mansur Muhtar with FCIC President, Mr. Mohamed Abdelrahman, along with Vice Presidents where they discussed the areas for collaboration for enhancing the FOCIC engagement for the IsDB financed projects and to build capacity in member countries.
The FCIC was founded in 1986 in Istanbul under the patronage of the IsDB and hosted by Turkish Government. The FCIC has about 140 members from 26 member countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
The key objectives of the FCIC are to strengthen consulting services industry and enhance collaboration amongst consultants while promoting international best practices through knowledge sharing across OIC member countries.
The events were coordinated and facilitated by the Project Procurement and Financial Management Division in IsDB.
