Dr. Rami Ahmad Appointed as Islamic Development Bank’s New Vice President Operations
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 15 December 2024 – Members of the Board of Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank have endorsed a recommendation by IsDB President, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, and approved the appointment of Dr. Rami Ahmad as the Vice President Operations (VPO) of the AAA rated multilateral development bank of the Global South.
News of the endorsement came on Sunday 15 December 2024, during 358th meeting of the IsDB Board Members at the Bank Headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On the occasion, IsDB President, H.E. Dr Muhammad Al Jasser, thanked the Board Members for their support and wished Dr. Rami success in his new role. He also expressed his appreciation to Director General Operations, Mr. Anasse Aissami, for effectively performing as VPO Officer-in-Charge.
Dr. Rami Ahmad is a highly experienced international development practitioner who joined the Bank in 1993. Over the years, he has gained extensive expertise in development finance and operations, equipping him with valuable insights into crafting effective solutions for global development challenges. In his previous roles, Dr. Rami Ahmad, has spearheaded significant initiatives for women and youth development, capacity building, and poverty alleviation.
His proven track record in managing the financing of public and private sector projects in infrastructure and human development areas has seen him serve in various high-profile capacities including Board Member of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD); IsDB Group’s Special Envoy on SDGs, Senior Advisor to the IsDB President, IsDB Group Sherpa to G20 & Heads of MDBs Forum and Director of several strategic departments.
