Chad’s Development Priorities Shape Talks on Expanded Cooperation with IsDB Group
Bangkok, Thailand, 12 October 2026 – Opportunities to support the Republic of Chad’s development priorities were the focus of talks between H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, and H.E. Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Chad’s Minister of State, Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, and IsDB Governor. Held on the sidelines of the 2026 World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok, the talks explored potential areas of cooperation to advance the country’s development goals.
Discussions built on the Chad Connection 2030 vision and the recently finalised Country Engagement Framework, which provides a strategic platform for renewed cooperation between IsDB and Chad. The framework emphasises strengthening infrastructure, promoting economic transformation, and improving social resilience.
The two sides reviewed opportunities across key sectors, including transport, water, agriculture, energy, education, and human development. They also discussed ways to mobilise concessional and blended financing to support priority development projects. The meeting underscored the importance of thorough project preparation, effective implementation, and close coordination in creating a pipeline of well-prepared operations aligned with Chad’s national priorities.
Discussions also included opportunities for broader engagement across the IsDB Group, especially in private-sector development, trade and investment, and the development of Islamic finance and capital-market solutions.
Dr. Al Jasser reaffirmed IsDB’s commitment to working closely with Chad to advance the objectives of Chad Connection 2030 and to turn the new partnership framework into high-impact development projects that provide tangible benefits for the Chadian people.
