Grant to the Continuity of Medicines for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders Patients in Yemen Project

With the generous contribution from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MoPHP), WHO delivered the first batch of Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorder medicines on 7 July 2021 to the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders in Sana'a, Maeen district,  under the project “IsDB TA Grant to the Continuity of Medicines for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders Patients in Yemen Project (YEM1020)”. The distribution included 9,600 bags of Intravenous fluids; 4,800 Normal Saline and 4,800 Glucose 5%. The distributed IV fluids are part of 7 life-saving medicines for thalassemia and other genetic blood disorders supported under this project to be distributed during the coming months. The distribution was led by the WHO Non-communicable Diseases Officer along with other WHO colleagues with the presence of IsDB Field Representative Office.
