Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 7 September 2022 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur has organized a virtual knowledge sharing session for Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad BPMB staff members.

The event was organized as a follow up to a bilateral meeting between IsDB President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, and BPMB Chairman, Tan Sri Nazir Razak, in KL, Malaysia in late July 2022.

The two leaders had discussed and agreed to exchange knowledge, experience and frameworks for establishing and implementing evaluation and monitoring criteria for project financing while ensuring a balance between credit risks and development objectives in view of the aligned mandate of the two institutions.

The virtual Knowledge sharing sessions were facilitated by IsDB Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur between the departments concerned in both institutions. The sessions were moderated by Mr. Mohamed Abida, Head, IsDB Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, where IsDB officials from various departments delivered presentations to the participants from BPMB.  

The virtual knowledge sharing session was fruitful, interactive and addressed many subjects and in particular, the project assessment methodology from both credit and development impact perspective. It was agreed to continue exchanging knowledge and experiences between both institutions on different topics such as exploring possibilities of undertaking knowledge sharing and capacity building sessions in other areas like Independent Post Evaluation.
