KLCoE Participates in the 2nd Coordination Meeting of Islamic Universities under the OIC
Selangor, Malaysia, 28 November 2024 –The 2nd Coordination Meeting of the OIC Islamic Universities and Relevant Institutions (2nd IUCM) took place on 27-28 November 2024. The meeting was jointly organized and hosted by OIC and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
The meeting, chaired by H.E. Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, Assistant Secretary General of Science & Technology of OIC, aims to serve as collaborative platform where participants share insights, best practices, and opportunities to transform universities and the community they serve. Discussion centered on the importance of cooperation and coordination among Islamic universities and the relevant OIC institutions.
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) was represented by the Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur (KLCoE) at the meeting. KLCoE provided an overview of both IsDB and its initiatives, which include supporting universities through various mechanisms such as infrastructure development, scholarship programs, technical assistance, Awqaf development, and south-south cooperation. Potential areas for collaboration with KLCoE were also highlighted.
Among the universities that participated in the meeting are Islamic University of Technology (IUT) Bangladesh, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Islamic University in Niger (IUN) and King Faisal University in Chad (URFT). In addition, institutions under the OIC namely Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) and Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) also participated in the meeting.
The 3rd Coordination Meeting of the Islamic Universities under the OIC (IUCM) will be hosted by the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Bangladesh.
