KLCoE Meets Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance to Spur Cooperation
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 20 January 2025 – The Kuala Lumpur Center of Excellence (KLCoE) held a strategic bilateral meeting with the Republic of Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Dr. Umid Abidkhadjaev, during his three-day working visit to Malaysia. The visit was hosted by the Head of KLCoE, Mr. Samer Elesawi, and aimed to strengthen the partnership and bilateral cooperation in key areas of sustainable development.
During the discussions, H.E. Dr. Umid Abidkhadjaev outlined Uzbekistan’s ambitions in several critical areas, including green growth, Islamic capital markets, the green economy, green sukuk, carbon trade legislation, and the development of a robust Halal ecosystem.
Mr. Samer Elesawi showcased KLCoE’s ongoing initiatives in Halal Industry Ecosystem Development and highlighted potential areas of collaboration with Uzbekistan, such as the establishment of Halal Parks, strengthening the Islamic finance ecosystem through a multi-country capacity development program, and facilitating knowledge transfer on Malaysia’s advancements in Islamic fintech.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing strong optimism about future collaboration. They agreed to conduct further in-depth discussions and joint assessments to explore these opportunities.
