Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, 5^th July 2023 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) was conferred the ‘Halal Leadership Excellence Award’ at the World Halal Excellence Awards (WHEA) 2022 held at the Avante Hotel, Petailing Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

The WHEA is an annual awards program which recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate core values of Halal thought leadership, business innovation, product innovation, technological achievement, and human capital management towards the growth of the Halal industry.

The Right Honorable Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia presented the Special Award: ‘Halal Leadership Excellence Award’ to acknowledge IsDB’s contribution in supporting innovation, growth and consistent development of the Halal eco-system in the 57 members of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries and globally. In addition, IsDB was also conferred ‘Halal Financial Excellence Award’ given its significant contribution to the Islamic Financial Sector. The Honorable Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment and International Trade was also present at the ceremony.

Representing IsDB President H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Mr. Riad Ragueb Ahmed, Director of Cooperation and Capacity Development, received the awards at the ceremony.
