IsDB KL-CoE Hosts Reception Marking H.E. IsDB President’s Visit to Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 20 July 2022 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur hosted a reception in conjunction with the official visit of IsDB President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr Muhammad Al Jasser, to Malaysia. 

High-Level Dignitaries from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (IsDB Governor’s Office), line ministries, key Government agencies, major private sector companies, regional and International organizations in Malaysia, Diplomatic Missions of IsDB Member Countries in Malaysia and the media representatives were among the notable attendees of the reception. 

During the event, President Al Jasser delivered a statement highlighting the important role of the newly established IsDB Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur (KLCoE) as a transformation of the IsDB Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur which will facilitate a win-win exchange of comprehensive development solutions, including expertise, technology, tools, and investments in five high-impact economic areas: science, technology and innovation; Islamic finance; halal industry; reverse linkage; and resource mobilization between Malaysia and other IsDB Member Countries.

Mr. Niloy Banerjee, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore also delivered a statement and handed over the Highlights of the two studies ‘Innovations in Islamic Finance’ and ‘Effective Solutions for Supporting MSMEs Recovery and Resilience’ to the IsDB President.

This is followed by a statement by Mr. Hairol Ariffein, Chief Executive Officer of Halal Development Corporation (HDC), and the handing of the Highlights of ‘Global Halal Ecosystem Assessment’ to H.E. President. The studies were undertaken jointly by IsDB KL CoE and the respective partners.
