IsDB Center of Excellence in KL Visits MARDICORP
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 15th April 2021 – Experts from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)’s Center of Excellence (CoE) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, led by the Head of CoE, Mr. Mohamed Abida, visited MARDI Corporation (MARDICorp) on 15th April 2021. The visit was received by the CEO of MARDICorp, Mr. Zaidi Shahrim.
MARDICorp was established in 1992 by the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) which is an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, to facilitate the transfer of MARDI's research and development output for commercial and public applications. MARDICorp provides consultancy leveraging the core competencies of MARDI encompassing its entire research and development capabilities both locally and abroad. It also operates the 132-hectare Malaysia Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) campus, which is the venue for the biennial Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agri-tourism event (MAHA).
During the visit, in addition to discussing existing and future collaboration, the CoE had the opportunity to tour the vast MAEPS campus, which has sections for paddy, pineapple, herbs etc. Potential collaboration is to further leverage MARDICorps extensive network of agriculture experts particularly taking advantage on advancement in agri-tech for the benefit of IsDB Member Countries.
