41st COMCEC Ministerial Session in Istanbul: IsDB Group Chairman Reaffirms Support to MCs Affected by Conflicts & Emergencies

Istanbul, Türkiye, 3 November 2025  At the opening of the 41st Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Istanbul under the chairmanship of H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Chairman of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, reiterated the Group’s unwavering support for all member countries affected by conflicts and emergencies. 

H.E. Dr. Al Jasser extended sincere appreciation to the Hon. President of the Republic of Türkiye and Chairman of COMCEC, H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for convening the session, and acknowledged the presence of H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other distinguished delegates. 

In his remarks, H.E. Dr. Al Jasser shed light on the significance of the 41st COMCEC Ministerial Meeting under the theme “Developing Export Strategies in OIC Member Countries” and urged boosting the intra-OIC trade, enhancing competitiveness, diversifying OIC markets through innovation, digitalization, and closer cooperation. 

He further stated: “IsDB Group is a dedicated partner in this mission, and our new Ten-Year Strategic Framework (2026-2035) prioritizes enhancing trade, investment, and integration. We actively promote these goals by investing in cross-border infrastructure, digital trade facilitation, and regulatory harmonization.”  

According to H.E. Dr. Al Jasser, IsDB’s annual development financing approvals have increased threefold from US$ 1.67 billion in 2020 to nearly US$ 5.11 billion in 2024. “As a result, IsDB Group’s cumulative approvals since inception until mid-2025 are close to US$204 billion”.  

Touching upon the complex challenges facing member countries, including geopolitical tensions, protracted conflicts, and accelerating climate change, the IsDB Group Chairman expressed deep concern over the situation in Gaza and reaffirmed commitment to recovery efforts. 

H.E. Dr. Al Jasser also shared some key achievements of IsDB Group institutions explaining that the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) approved US$89 billion in trade financing since inception, including US$7.3 billion in 2024 across over 45 member countries.  

“By mid-2025, ITFC approved US$6.2 billion, with 28% supporting least developed member countries and 37% of capacity-building beneficiaries being women farmers or women-owned SMEs”, he highlighted.  

On the performance of IsDB Group’s Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), he said “the institution insured US$12.9 billion in trade and investment in 2024, bringing cumulative insured business to US$121.2 billion, with US$57 billion allocated to intra-OIC trade and investment”. 

 Dr. Al Jasser further highlighted Türkiye’s leadership as a major exporter within the OIC and encouraged member countries to leverage Türkiye’s expertise through the IsDB’s Reverse Linkage program, a successful platform for knowledge and technical exchange.  

 He concluded by reaffirming IsDB Group’s commitment to deepening collaboration with COMCEC and OIC institutions to strengthen the member countries’ capacities, institutions, and regulatory frameworks.
