Development of A specialized Maternal and Neonatal Health Care Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital
The goal of the Project is to contribute to the attainment of the Health Sector Strategic and Investment Plan (HSSIP) -related goal of reduced morbidity and mortality of major causes of ill health and premature death in Uganda.
The Hospital, located on Mulago Hill about 3 km North of Kampala City center covers 24,000m2. It has 9 levels, four blocks and a capacity of 452 beds. Seven of the levels comprise clinics, in-patient wards, teaching facilities and related services, while the others house support services. The Unit has 10 operating theatres, a laboratory, radiology unit, blood bank, High Dependency Unit/Intensive Care Unit (HDU/ICU), a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Urogynecology unit Gynae-oncology and Assisted Reproductive Technologies (32 beds).
