The Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain /has received financing in the amount of US Dollars [180.72 Million] from the Islamic Development Bank toward the cost of the RDS-26/0002 - King Faisal Highway Upgrade (from Al Farooq Interchange to Al Fateh Interchange) project (and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services to be procured under this project.
The bank is financing Component 1Civil Works:
This component covers all physical infrastructure works, including:
▪ Road widening by 32 lane-km, with new asphalt surfacing, kerbs, street lighting, traffic signs, and vehicle restraint systems.
▪ Grade-separated structures, including: A 4-lane underpass at Al Fardah Avenue.
- Two single-cell box underpasses at Al Fateh Highway.
- A 2-lane U-turn flyover at Al Farooq Interchange.
- Utility diversions and protection for water, electricity, telecom, and drainage systems.
- Landscaping and urban enhancements, including median treatments and pedestrian zones, designed to accommodate future LRT bridge piers and improve urban livability.
Procurement of contracts financed by the Islamic Development Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the Guidelines for the Procurement of Goods, Works and Related Services under Islamic Development Bank Project Financing (April 2019 edition, amended February 2023), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the Islamic Development Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) or international competitive bidding – member countries (ICB/MC) procedures will be announced, as they become available, in the IsDB external website, DgMarket, the Bahrain Tender Board website; and any other appropriate internationally accessible media of wide distribution.
