WATER TRANSMISSION DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2009 -2012 PIPELINES WEST (PIW) Invitation For Prequalification for Installation of Pipelines The ELECTRICITY AND WATER AUTHORITY of the KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN is proposing to implement works under the Water Transmission Development Project 2009-12. Part of the Project, Pipelines West (PIW), includes installation of approximately 23 km of ductile iron pipework of various diameters ranging from 1200mm diameter to 600mm diameter installed above and below ground. The works include the construction of non destructive road crossings (NDRC) and the construction of isolation valve chambers, air valve chambers and washout chambers. All ductile iron pipes and pipe fittings are to be free –issue material to the Contractor from a central store in Bahrain. The Electricity and Water Authority intends to pre-qualify contractors and /or firms from the member countries of the Islamic Development Bank, who have demonstrated strong experience in executing works of a similar type, for the construction of the above stated works. The criteria for eligible applicants will include, but not limited to, • Contractors with average annual turn-over for the last three years of not less than BD 10 million, available tendering capacity of not less than BD 10 million and with access to financial resources not less than BD 2 million. • Participation as Prime Contractor in at least three contracts in the water sector in the past 10 years that have been successfully completed that are similar to the proposed works and that the value of each of these contracts is not less than BD 7 million. Applicants will be required to submit the following along with their prequalification submission: 1. Certificates and statements of their financial capability from a bank which is acceptable and recognised by the Bahrain Monetary Agency. 2. Statements of major works experience which are of a similar nature, either overseas or in Bahrain, along with certification by an official authority in the country where the works have taken place. 3. Completion Certificates of works executed either in Bahrain or overseas. 4. Copies of the published accounts for the last three years showing the balance sheets and profit & loss statements audited by a recognized certified auditor. In addition to the above, overseas applicants will have to be sponsored by a Bahraini agent who has the right to conduct business in Bahrain. The Bahraini Agent shall have fulfilled the compliance requirements to the conditions & provisions of the Commercial Companies Act and the Commercial Agencies Act. The works on Pipelines West PIW is programmed to be tendered during April 2012.
